New boarding house on Ocean View Drive & Prince St?
Council is considering an application for a nine-room boarding house on the corner of Ocean View Drive and Prince Street Wamberal.
UPDATE: Council has extended the period for submissions until 5pm Friday 16 September 2016.
If approved, it would consist of nine studio type apartments in two buildings.
Many in the community are concerned that development looks more like nine studio apartments rather than a boarding house, that it is highly unsuitable in an R2 low density residential zone with major traffic issues and could be easily converted to high cost, short term tourist accommodation in the future.
Bato Yard – official opening on Sunday
The Bato Yard skate park with the deepest bowl in Australia (at 3.6 metres) officially opens on Sunday.
It’s time for a break – mostly free events this weekend

Willoughby Road petition
Following the death of a passenger on Sunday night, there is a new Change.org petition to have work done to address safety at the notorious Willoughby Road causeway.
Thee have been a large number of crashes and near misses over the years. The road becomes very slippery even after heavy dew and the golf course frequently has to repair the fence caused by cars hitting it.
10 ways to save your park
We now have 10 sample letters that you, your family, friends and colleagues can send to the Central Coast Council to save the Benjamin Parker Reserve.
The Council report recommends that children play on the narrow strip of land between LakeView Road and Terrigal Lagoon; next to a sewer pump station, open stormwater drains and a busy road on flood prone land. Check out the photos.
Wamberal Memorial Hall saved
In a stunning turn of events, the general counsel at the new Central Coast Council has found that the previous Gosford Council had no power to sell Wamberal Memorial Hall
In 1994, Gosford Council resolved that the Wamberal Memorial, park and playground should be classified as “operational land.” That decision was simply wrong.
Thurs nite – submission workshop to save our parks
Come down to the Wamberal Surf Club on Thursday evening for a workshop to help draft your submissions to save Benjamin Parker Reserve and our other playgrounds and parks on the Central Coast.
Starting at 7:15 pm, we will have computers and printers set up so you can prepare your submission on the spot.
Public meeting on parks – what happened on July 6
Further disappointment with Council is the outcome of todays public meeting concerning the sale of community parks like Benjamin Parker Reserve and 11 other parks across the Central Coast.
Council could not provide clear answers or information about the process and the lack of consistency frustrated the audiences at both meetings.
